Hwy 40 is now OPEN

For the past 2 years all we have seen around STL are signs like these:
Why? Because the main hwy, hwy 40 or Interstate 64, has been under major construction. They closed down the hwy so that they could re-build the road. To be honest, I am tired of contruction cones, trucks and road blocks. I am also tired of people using our street as a detour.
All we could do is stand back and watch...and follow the detour signs. Grandad Denton was especially hit hard, turning his 20 minute commute to work into 40 minutes each way. It was also difficult for us because we live within walking distance to the hwy and it took on average 10 - 15 minutes just to get on the road. Here is sweet Preston looking at the closed road.
Good news - as of tomorrow morning at 3am, the contructions signs will be no more because the highway is going to be OPEN!
Today, the Dalbey Trio and Grandad Denton joined many others in STL for a party on the highway. We loaded Preston up in the bike carrier and went for a ride on the highway. Yes, it was cold, but so much fun to go on the highway and celebrate the completion of 2 long years of construction. Here are a few photo's from our time today:
I can't wait to drive on the new Highway tomorrow!
