Saturday

I am a bit tired at the moment so here is a simple update on the Dalbey Trio Saturday activities.
We started the day at the thriVe 5k walk/run. For more information about thriVe go to www.thrivestlouis.org We had a great time despite a little bit of rain because we were with good friends and supporting a good cause. Preston also sat in his first Viper - super cool.
After the event we went home and did some yard work and cleaning around the house - fun times. Finally, we went to our friend Doug's house for some BBQ and social interactio. Thanks for the yummy food Doug! Enjoy the photo's and when I have more energy I will share some other thoughts that have been on my mind lately.

Friday

Thank goodness its Friday because I am tired. The past few days have been long ones as I have been working hard to prepare for our Middle school camp and keep things going here at home. I am excited for the weekend because the Dalbey Trio has some fun things planned. I will be sure to take some photo's and let all our readers know about our adventures. Have a nice evening.

Memorial Day Weekend - Part 3

To complete our Memorial Day weekend adventures we stopped by Uncle Dan & Aunt Ruthie Perrin's house yesterday to visit with our cousins and their children. Preston, Emma and Samuel are only 6 weeks apart and it has been fun watching all of them grow via the blog world. While we had met miss Emma before, this was our first time meeting Mr. Samuel. Some of you may remember that Samuel was very sick last fall and we were asking for your prayers for his healing. We are so thankful that he is doing better and that we could meet him yesterday and watch him play with the other little ones. Here are a few photo's from our visit.

Preston has been working on the art of standing all by himself the past week. We think this is the first step towards walking in the near future - fun times are ahead for us!

A Happy Birthday

Today is my 29th Birthday. Wow! For some reason I still feel like I am 25. Anyway, I have had a great day and I want to thank everyone who called, sent me a message/email or just stopped by to say hi. I felt loved today. I also want to thank my husband for making my day very special. I usually watch Preston and William on Tuesdays but Steven stayed home for a few hours so that I could get out of the house. I went and got a massage as part of my birthday gift and when I came home there were a dozen red roses waiting at our house. Steven, you are an amazing husband and friend - I love you very much! I also went shopping and purchased a new dress with some gift money I received from my Grandma. Thank you! Oh yes, Preston's birthday gift to me today was a 4 hours nap - wow! Here is a video of Preston during dinner time tonight. He seems to learn a new trick every day! Enjoy.

Here is a video from Preston swinging at a park on Sunday afternoon. He had a great time!

Post Mothers Day Reflections

I forgot to write a post on Mothers day but I wanted to let everyone know that I had a very nice day. The Dalbey Trio spent the afternoon with Steven's family enjoying a nice lunch and playing some bocce ball in the backyard. Preston also pulled himself up to the standing position for the first time on Mother's day - way to go buddy!

I remember a day when I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a mother. I thought I would be a bad mom because I don't really have a close relationship with mine. I had also been taught at Christian school that 'God made me to be a mother' but I just didn't buy into that kind of talk. It made me feel and think that if I didn't become a mother that something was wrong with me. It also made me feel like I had to let go of a lot of my goals and dreams just so that I can stay home and raise children. In case you didn't know, I like my independance and hearing about the 'typical' mom thing didn't excite me in any way. I think what I am trying to say is that I am learning that my identity is not based on the fact that I am a mother. I am a mother but I am also a wife, an artist, a sister, a friend, a leader, and most importantly - a child of God. Yes, I like being Preston's mom and I am learning how to be a good mom to him each day. I still get scared and think a lot about what is to come, but I try to take each day one at a time and enjoy the time I have with him.

Here are a few photo's from the past couple days. Enjoy!

Preston's buddy

Every Tuesday, I watch a little boy named William so that his mom can go to work. (William's mom watches Preston on Monday so that I can work). The boys have become good buddies and enjoy being with one another. Sure, they fight over toys every once in a while and William doesn't like it when Preston tries to take his shoes, but I truly beleive that they enjoy being with one another. Here is a video from our time together yesterday. Notice that Preston has Williams 'snacktrap' and William has Preston's baby Einstein player. Enjoy.

Katy Trail

It is beautiful outside and we took advantage of such a wonderful day by going biking on the Katy Trail. Preston did great, Steven is my hero for pulling the bike trailer and I have not worked out this much since November 2007 (Pre-Pregnancy). Never the less, I was determined to make the 20 mile ride and finished well. I think my legs wll be sore tomorrow, but perhaps this is what I needed to jump start my workout routine again. Enjoy the photos!

TGIF

Thank goodness it's Friday! I am tired and looking forward to a nice weekend with family. Here are some Dalbey Trio updates from this past week. First, Preston continues to work on his crawling skills. He is doing very well and can move from one side of the room to the other faster than I can say 'chicken nugget'. Second, Preston is also perfecting the art of pulling up into a standing position. I have yet to capture this on video but he is doing great. Third, Steven had a busy yet productive week at work. He is working hard to plan the summer calendar for the students in youth group. Fourth, Steven is currently installing a new ceiling light in our kitchen. This excites me because our kitchen is very blahhh. Fifth, I took my camera outside to capture some of the flowers in bloom. Finally, Grandad Denton bought Preston a super cool Chariot bike stroller/trailer chassis. Now we can take him with us on a bike ride. I hope you are doing well and enjoy the photos.

New Shoes

I am so excited because Steven bought me a new pair of Chaco shoes today for my birthday! (note: my birthday is on the 19th but he took advantage of the huge sale at REI). They are called the Chaco Hipthong and they are super cool. The arch support in these shoes is amazing. It has taken me over 4 years to wear out my old pair of Chaco flops and I wore them almost everyday! Oh yes, my new shoes are also made from 100% recycled materials...I try to be green as much as possible. Thank you Steven - I love you!

Preston and the Pool

Another fun first for Preston while we were in Spain was taking him to the pool. Good news - he loved the pool. He sat is his crab (see photo's) and just splashed around in the water and watched the kids playing in the water or the people walking on the deck. I think this kid is made to be in the water (just like his mommy). Enjoy the photo's. Oh yes, I will share about the actual Retreat and our time with the students this weekend, so stay tuned :)
