Peyton 6 weeks

I took Peyton to the Doctor today for her 6 week check up. She continues to be a healthy girl and we are very thankful. She did have to get her first round of shots, which she did not like, and has been a bit fussy and sleepy all afternoon. I hope she is feeling better tomorrow.
Here is a picture of her sleeping this afternoon.
Weight: 9lbs 14oz
Length: 21in
Both are 50th percentile

Happy Easter

The Dalbey Four had a very nice Easter weekend with family and friends. On Saturday, we headed over to Grandma and Grandad's house for nice Easter brunch. Our very own Preston Dalbey lead us in the prayer before the meal. It reminded us all of when Preston Denton would lead us in the prayer every Easter. These type of holiday's remind me that some of my Grandparents are not with us anymore...we miss you.
Anyway, here are a few photos of the little girl in her Easter bunny onesie :)
On Sunday, we headed over to Grammie and Papa's house for some more Easter fun. Preston looked so cute in his shirt and Peyton in her blue outfit. Here are some more photos.
I just love this cute outfit

Potpourri

This morning I went to the John Burroughs annual Potpourri Garage Sale.
After Peyton's 3:30am feeding, I got ready and made it to JBS at 4:50am to secure my spot in line. It is worth getting in line early to get in early and find some neat stuff. This morning, I didn't have anything specific in mind to look for...just some clothes for the kids.
Here is what I found for Peyton:
(1 short sleeve shirt, 2 long sleeve shirts, a corduroy jacket, a sleeper, a dress and some mittens)
Here is what I found for Preston:
(A pair of shorts, boxer shorts, pants and some mitten/gloves)

I also found these SWEET baby shoes:
I found a total of 3 pairs of these sweet baby shoes.
I think I will keep one pair for Peyton and gift the other two pairs.
Notice how the shoes are already gift wrapped - very convenient.
Overall, a very successful shopping trip.
Oh yes, did I mention that I only spent $15 - a great deal!

Thank you

I wanted to give a huge shout out to Caroline Jernigan for giving me a sling to hold Peyton. Here is a picture of Peyton in the sling and the beautiful letter P that she sewed on.
Thank you so much! This is such a beautiful gift! Some of you may have seen me sell my Moby Wrap on Facebook a few weeks back. I sold it because I thought I wouldn't need it - I was wrong. I am so thankful for wonderful friends and a hands free way to hold Peyton while I am at work or doing things around the house!
Here is a picture of Peyton...just for fun. She is almost starting to smile :)

Peyton 1 Month

Peyton turned 1 month old on Sunday, April 17th. Our little girl is growing well and doing great. I don't know any of her stats as we head to the Dr. next week. A point of interest - she slept 6 hours last night. I am in mommy heaven. Here is a sweet photo from yesterday afternoon.

Potty Training Update

Preston has been doing very well with potty training the past week. He continues to go #1 in the potty most every time and sometimes on his own without needing mommy or daddy to remind him. Preston has also gone #2 in the potty the past 3 days - straight. This is huge! We are so proud of him and wanted to give him a special gift to encourage him in becoming a big boy.

Here is Preston with his special gift. It is the engine, Stanley, from the Thomas and Friends collection. He is in his room playing with his new toy as I type this post :)

Work

I mentioned a few days ago that I headed back to work 2 weeks after Peyton was born. While this is not ideal, it is just something I need to do for our family. Thankfully, I work for some patient attorney's and have some loving co-workers who love to see the little girl and even hold her if I have something urgent that needs to be finished. Sadly, one of those co-workers is leaving our office and going to work for a non - profit organization closer to home. Anna, you will be greatly missed. I don't know what I will do without your help these next 7 weeks until Peyton is old enough to go to Peeps. I hope to see you soon. Here are a few photos from my time at the office the last 2 days.

Headband

Poor girl, I walked into work this morning and this is what I found:
I am afraid her little headband is still a bit too big...I am sure that will improve with time.

sleep

My son will not take a nap in his bed. We try every day but he just wants to play with his trains or outside on his trike. Today, Preston fell asleep watching a Thomas video while I nursed Peyton. Oh yes, he fell asleep in mommy and daddy's bed. Here is a photo.
Gone are the day's of Preston taking a daily nap...I miss those days.

Day by Day

Being a mom to a two and a half year old and a 4 week old is a day by day adventure. Some days are great b/c both children sleep well at night. For Preston this would be sleeping a full night and Peyton going anywhere from 4-5 hours straight during the night. If they sleep well, then I sleep well...or as well as possible for someone in my situation. Today has been a good day b/c Peyton had a 5 hour sleep stretch last night - way to go girlfriend. Preston also slept through the night. Yesterday was difficult, however, b/c Peyton woke up every 3 hours the night before and was a bit fussy yesterday morning. This is what I looked like yesterday afternoon - completely exhausted.
Oh yes, did I mention that I went back to work last week. Yes, I am serious. Anyway, despite my sleep deprived state and our crazy schedule, I am truly thankful for my two children and the precious gift they are to Steven and me. I try to remind myself each day that it is a blessing to have children - not a burden or some afterthought. Even though some days are hard and I am completely wiped out and have had no time for myself I try to look at each child and see how beautiful and wonderful God has made them. I also believe that He will sustain me each day despite the difficulties and trials. I hope I don't sound cheesy because I mean every word.

Here are a couple pics of the kiddo's. Here is Peyton. She has started to 'play' with her toys and it is super sweet to watch.
Here is Preston holding his new stuffed Monkey from Aunt Sue. He has named him Mango.

3 weeks

Peyton is 3 weeks old today! I am not sure how much she weighs, but I can tell that she is growing and continues to nurse well. I have started to dig around the 0 - 3 month clothes and may need to put the newborn clothes aside...sigh. She is such a sweet girl and I love my time with her even when it is divided between her brother, her daddy or my work. Here is a sweet picture I took while we sat outside this afternoon. I am thankful for this little girl.

I have a co-worker who send me a link to her Granddaughter's Etsy site. That is where I found this headband. Super Cute!! I am going to ask for this for Peyton's first Birthday :) Oh yes, this is a headband.

Slide Scrape

Here is a picture of the scrape on Preston's forehead and nose from his slide. He doesn't seem bothered by the cuts on his face, but is a bit weary of the slide. I asked him if he wanted to go down the slide yesterday afternoon and he said 'no mommy, its scary'. I hope this cuts heal quickly and well.
Oh yes, here is a picture of our little girl. She is doing well :)
These pictures were taken with my camera phone...not the best...but will work.

Monday

Overall, the Dalbey four had a good weekend. We spent some time together on Friday evening, did some yard work on Saturday, hung out with some friends on Sunday and even finished a few loads of laundry. Our power did go out on Sunday evening which was a bummer. Apparently the wind damaged our area transformer. Thank you, Grammie and Poppa, for letting us spend the night. We are now back at home and doing well. At this moment, both my children are asleep...I wonder how long this will last. Here is a cute photo of Peyton from the weekend.
Oh yes, Preston did have a minor accident on Sunday. He decided to go head first down his slide in the backyard and scraped his forehead and nose. Poor buddy! I will post a photo tomorrow.

Peyton Update

We took Peyton in for her 2 week checkup yesterday and everything looks great. She has gained weight and is up to 7lbs 9oz. She continues to nurse well and still needs to eat every 3 hours. Her longest sleeping stretch was 5 hours on Wednesday night. Last night we had a 4 hour stretch...not bad. We are also learning that she is a cuddle bug. She just loves to be held and view the world from our arms. Overall, she is a very sweet baby and we are very thankful that she is doing well.
